My trust in God is based on who He is, not what I am, what I do, or what I get. There are so many questions which remain unanswered which trouble people and sometimes cause people to stumble. Concerning heaven, frequent questions include: What will we look like? What will heaven look like? What will we do up there? The only answer is we will not be the same as we are now, and it will not be like the place we live now. We are restricted to what we have witnessed during our time on earth, but God has no such restrictions. There may be colors we haven't seen, shapes we can't fathom, and environments which are too different for our minds to wrap itself around. The important thing is that if God felt it was necessary for us to know these things, He would have included it in His Word. What I do know is what Jesus said in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." He also said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." He also comforted Peter in John 14:1-3, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." Many struggle with unanswered questions and thoughts, but again, my trust is in God, for He is worthy of such trust, not my thoughts. To any who spend wasted time concerning themselves what hell looks like, or exactly how bad the torture there will be; why waste that time. Jesus has laid out the only requirements to make sure that you and those that you know do not wind up there. That should be our focus.

Paul poses the question in 1 Corinthians 15:35, "But someone will say, "How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?"" He gives a beautiful answer in 15:42-44, "So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body...". God is perfect and the domain of heaven is perfect. How can we, who are imperfect, inherit that which is perfect? We are changed. Alluding to the future Rapture, Paul goes on in 15:50-53, "Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed- in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality." Our current bodies are designed for 14lb/square inch of pressure and require air which is 78% Oxygen, 21% Nitrogen, and 1% assorted gases. To go into other environments such as in air travel or under the ocean requires pressurized cabins or suits. Our earthly bodies place limits on us.

Many fear death, but Paul said in Philippians 1:21, "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." When an unbeliever dies, we should indeed grieve. But when a believer passes from this realm to the heavenly realm, we should rejoice. Though we may mourn for our temporary loss, we can know that they are in a better place. In heaven we will have none of those limitations we have here. If our joints or back have been damaged while on earth, and walking has been difficult, in heaven we will be running like a gazelle. When Jesus resurrected, He literally walked through a door. We will not be limited in ways that we currently know. We will soar and move like never before. How can all this be? God knows, and we don't have to. Our God is all-powerful, all-knowing and all-present. In Hebrews 13:8, we read, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." We change and at times go back on our word and our promise. But God is immutable, or never changing. So, we who have repented and called on the name of Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, may not have all the answers, but we have the only one that matters. Trust in Him, and one day you will be with Him, and experience joy we can't even begin to fathom.
